What is a sustainable diet?

A sustainable diet is considered to be a diet that resembles a nutritionally healthy diet. However,​the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) describes sustainable diets as "those diets with low environmental impacts,​which contribute to food and nutrition security and to healthy life for present and future generations". This diet is rich in fruit and vegetables with consumption of essentially plant-based proteins.
